Growing Tips

  • Starting indoors: Sow seeds 6 to 8 weeks before last frost. Press seeds lightly onto the surface of well-draining seed-starting mix. Seeds need light to germinate - do not cover deeply.
  • Germination: Keep soil lightly moist at 65 to 70 degrees F. Germination typically takes 14 to 28 days.
  • Transplanting outdoors: Move seedlings outside after danger of frost has passed. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil.
  • Spacing: Space plants 12 to 18 inches apart to allow for mature spread.
  • Soil and sun: Full sun (6 or more hours per day) and sandy or loamy, well-draining soil. Lavender does not tolerate wet or heavy clay soils.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Reduce watering once the plant is established.
  • Hardiness: Munstead English Lavender is hardy in USDA zones 5 through 8.
