I really liked the process of planting all of them and kit was very cute. Followed everything as closely as possible and only the one sprouted. I did this in mid December and now in mid March this is as big as its gotten. Yes, I normally removed the fungus, but have basically given up at this point. Very disappointed as I bought 2 and gave one as a Christmas gift.

I received this as a gift and there was only 4 seeds (basil, thyme, parsley, and cilantro) the box labeled (cilantro, basil, parsley, mint, and chive). I never received the mint or the chives.

Have had this a few months. Only one one of the four bonzi trees produced any seedlings. And that one only produced two seedlings. Sadly, would not recommend this brand. Love the idea and will be looking elsewhere with hopes of better luck.

My experience with the Bonsai Tree Kit, Grow Your Own: Premium 4 Bonsai Trees Starter Kit has been somewhat mixed.
One notable downside is the limited quantity of seeds provided. I found myself expecting a more generous supply, and unfortunately, some of the seeds didn't germinate as expected, resulting in a less than ideal growing experience.
Moreover, I encountered a hiccup with the QR code on the packaging – it simply did not work. This was disappointing as I was hoping for additional guidance or tips that might have been accessible through the QR code.
On the positive side, the included pots and soil are of decent quality, and the instructions are clear, making it suitable for beginners. However, the challenges with seed quantity and germination, coupled with the non-functional QR code, leave room for improvement in the overall kit. If these issues are addressed, it could be a more satisfying experience for budding bonsai enthusiasts.

It’s a cute little kit but it was missing one of the peat pellets. It’s disappointing to not have all of the parts but I am making do without it. Seems like a quality control issue. It’s too early to tell if the seeds will germinate and grow.

I got this kit today in the mail, it is important to remember to read the directions. If you get the ones in the picture along with the blue Jacaranda seeds ( <- those ones don't require any special stratification) but the other seeds do. If you'd rather read a review than the directions..
Starting in January or feb ( I did mine a bit early ) soak the seeds over 24 hours.
For the Chinese elm gently squeeze excess water out. ( GENTLY)
Fold them up in a paper towel, place In a zip lock bag and then into a container. Place in a cool place ( above freezing 31⁰f- 41⁰f ) like in your fridge.
Two have the same duration time and one is different.
Chinese Elm and Hinoki Cypress have a duration of 60 days Chinese Elm could go 30 too. ( goal is to replicate nature most germinate in spring to summer)
Crepe Myrtles duration is 30 days.
After words: when all the seeds have gone through their process; place your soil pucks onto a tray and use about 3/4ths cup of water per soil puck. Wait 15-20 minutes until pucks are soft and loose they should expand 4-5 times their size. Soil should be damp not dripping wet.
Mix together the nutrition packet ( sea weed )
And perlite into the soil and distribute evenly between the 4 pots. Leave 1/2" from top to rim.

I can't wait to see if these will grow for me. The directions are precise and helpful so HANG ONTO THE BOOKLET.
They packaged it beautifully came in pristine and perfect condition.

This is the cutest little bonsai starter kit! I was surprised at the compact size when I received it but after receiving it I realize it is actually perfect to start these trees growing. The Home Grown Bonsai starter kit is smaller than I had expected and is a very well packaged kit. With the easy-to-follow instructions I was able to mix the soil, plant the seeds and cover them with plastic to wait for them to start growing. I am patiently waiting for the seeds to emerge and will update on the progress. This is a wonderful kit for anyone looking to start the journey of tending to your own Bonsai Garden. It would also make a great gift.

My toddler and i did this as a fun activity together. He loved it! But sadly, very few of ours sprouted and some even grew mold! The few that sprouted seemed to stop growing and die within the first inch or 2. I only had all 5 of the norway spruce seeds sprout. 1 flame tree sprouted, the rest molded. 2 Japanese black pine sprouted and none of the last one. Instructions were easy to follow and definitely had fun doing this with my toddler. The hardest part was waiting for them to grow! I would definitely gift this to someone in the future and try other products by this company. Im sure every environment is different, so maybe some will have better luck than i did!

I am just now putting seeds in. This is the soil provided PLUS some orchid soil I already had. This addition to the already provided soil does not even fill up half the pots in the kit. Seems like a good kit but not enough soil to grow the actual kit. I’ll try to provide more info later if and when the seeds actually grow.

As a Bonsai grower you would know that true bonsai trees are not easily found in the US or grown from seedlings. This kit is a good way to attempt a fun hobby start, but is not really for new gardeners. It did well enough for the initial starting of the tree, but did not come with enough instructions for my nephew to keep them going after the initial sprout and into the growth part. I wouldn't recommend as a gift to someone with Bonsai experience, nor as a gift to someone new to plants. Perhaps to someone who has good plant knowledge, and is looking to get into Bonsai growing. Supplies look cute enough and come boxed as a gift set. But, I feel this is marked as a gift vs. a reality in growing Bonsai.

First time planting these and I only saw AFTER I had planted them that I was supposed to soak some of the seeds. Those didn’t grow (shocker) but we do have one that is growing a little, but I have no hopes any of them will turn into a tree. This was a fun project to do with my toddler though.

Followed directions. Only the evergreens have sprouted. Disappointed that the Flame Tree and Blue Jacaranda don't appear to have done anything after several weeks.

Mint did not grow at all. Basil tried and died. Chives and parsley keep trying. Cilantro looks great.
I think this is a great kit for beginners but don't get your hopes up. I also had to repot them into more breathable containers to prevent mold of the soil matter.
It's not a bad purchase just definitely think it could be better.

I bought this kit for myself as a Christmas gift this year. I was very hopeful, but almost immediately that hope fizzled. When opening the bonsai kit I first noticed the soil pellets included are not proper for bonsai plants. Bonsai plants require well draining soil with additives like perlite and lava stone. The soil included in this kit is not a well draining soil and is made for other kinds of plants. Next, bonsai plants grow best in soil temperatures around 70 to 80°, which means most likely you will need a heating mat, which is not included in the kit. Out of all four kinds of bonsai included in this kit, only one sprouted. The one that sprouted had very large seeds. About the size of your average multivitamin. The other three of four that did not sprout, had seeds that did not even look right. They looked like little flecks of paper, smaller than 1/2 the length of my pinky nail and thinner than printer paper. I followed the directions perfectly, planted all four strains, 3 seeds each, in separate pots on December 16. After almost 2 full months, again only 2 seeds from one strain has sprouted, the flame tree. This kit was way over priced for what it includes and for the success rate of seeds included. To only have two sprouts out of 12 total seeds is not OK. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this kit to other people and will not be purchasing again.

As an experienced bonsai grower with 30 years under my belt with saplings and seed, I’m very disappointed that only two seeds sprouted.
I wrote the company three weeks ago, requesting a replacement set of seeds and have received no response to date.

Only 2 of them grew. But not for beginners took a lot for the others to grow almost double the time to even see the sprouts come up but then they died after taking forever to grow. I would pass on it.

t appears the package was damaged at warehouse. None of the missing parts were in the package as shipped. Missing the peat pellots or pods to place the seed in and the labels or stake damaged. Contacted manufacture with no respond or replacement of missing parts. Overall given the price I feel taken. I will not be recommending this. I have not planted because of missing plant pods to place the seeds within. I have odered pods from other sources.

Gave to 14 year old grandson. He was thrilled but it is a very small set. Will have to see if it will grow. He’s in gifted and it advance classes and has patience so I’m hoping it grows good for him.
