Growing Tips
- Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, pressing them lightly into the soil surface. Cosmos need light to germinate and should not be buried deep.
- Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid overly rich or heavily fertilized soil, which encourages leafy growth at the expense of blooms.
- Water regularly until seedlings are established, then reduce watering. Cosmos are tolerant of dry conditions once they have rooted in.
- Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering through the season, or leave flowers on the plant to self-seed for the following year.
