Growing Tips
Most of these herbs prefer well-drained soil and a sunny to partly sunny location. Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your last frost date, or direct sow after frost risk has passed. Chamomile and lemon balm germinate readily from surface sowing since they need light to sprout. Keep soil consistently moist during germination. Mint and peppermint spread vigorously, so containers are a good option for keeping them in check. Echinacea may take two seasons to flower but will return reliably each year once established.
