Product Details

Parris Island Romaine is a reliable, heat-tolerant heirloom variety known for its tall, upright heads, crisp texture, and mild flavor. This 2-pack gives you 7,000 or more non-GMO seeds, sourced in the USA, so you can plant successive crops through the season. It performs well in home gardens, raised beds, and hydroponic systems.

  • Variety: Parris Island Romaine - a classic heirloom open-pollinated lettuce
  • Seed count: 7,000 or more seeds total across 2 packs (approximately 3,500 seeds per pack)
  • Non-GMO and heirloom - seeds can be saved from your harvest for future planting
  • Sourced in the USA
  • Suitable for in-ground gardens, raised beds, containers, and hydroponic setups
  • Heat tolerance is above average for a romaine type, making it a good choice for spring and early fall planting

What's Included

  • 2 seed packs of Parris Island Romaine Lettuce
  • 7,000 or more non-GMO heirloom seeds total

Growing Tips

  • Sowing depth: Press seeds just below the soil surface, about 1/8 inch deep. Lettuce seed needs light to germinate well, so do not bury seeds deeply.
  • Spacing: Thin seedlings to 8-10 inches apart for full heads, or space closer and harvest as cut-and-come-again leaves.
  • Soil temperature for germination: 40-75 degrees F. Germination is slower above 80 degrees F.
  • Direct sow or transplant: Start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, or direct sow as soon as soil can be worked in spring.
  • Days to maturity: Approximately 68-75 days to full head. Outer leaves can be harvested earlier.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist. Lettuce has shallow roots and dries out quickly in warm weather.
  • Succession planting: Sow small amounts every 2-3 weeks to extend your harvest window.
